About me:
I had a wide variety of jobs before I turned full time to commercial writing. The list includes teacher, bookseller, civil servant, farm hand, bike mechanic, computer programmer, TV scriptwriter, and systems designer. I also spent about 15 years with Reuters, both as a permanent member of staff and then as a freelancer.
This is a depth of experience that I continue to mine to ensure that the copy I write presents your product or service in the most suitable and favourable context. My regular clients agree and I enjoy a healthy level of repeat business as a result.
I believe that a copywriter is first and foremost a sales person, albeit one with a keyboard rather than the nylon shirt and Ford Cortina of sitcom caricature. (The car I drive is beside the point!)
The aim of successful copy, therefore, is to increase sales. This is a tenet which I hold dear and which informs all my copywriting. I further believe that successful copy is written in partnership with the client and not, as many writers believe, in spite of the client.
On a more personal note, I live in Surrey with my wife and three children.
As far as writing accreditation is concerned, I'm a member both of the NUJ and the WGGB.
